Race Report

Race 6 of the Exies Bacchus Competition and once again it was a mass start with a trial run for the main race around the Lake. The course was perfectly prepared. A big  thankyou to all involved.

In the long course it was always  going to be hotly contested. First across the line was Andrew Creek with the fastest time followed very closely by Adam Rudgley and Nicole Restagno in third.

With times adjusted to allow for handicap, it  was Nicole Restagno

who took first place and the lead in the competition. Second in was Tony Moers, then came Brian Bellicanta, Ed Frkovic, Glenys Greenaway, Lena Sergi, Adam Rudgley, Robyn McKenzie, Dom Calabria and Paul Muir in tenth.

Some of the runners in the short course realised just how much further that little bit  to make almost 5 km is,  and climbing that hot tar road at the Sailing Club was a bit gruelling for some.

The results once handicap was taken into account saw Devanzh Tiwari come in first followed by Trent Rosato and Ryan Altin. It was good to see Steven Heffer back who managed 7th and second fastest time for the day, with Ben Potroz being the fastest..

Rivalry between cousins is pushing some runners to perform very well with Mitchell Forrest and Nick Poscoliero giving everything they had. Mitchell finished just in front of Nick and with both boys away next week playing football the contest will be put on hold. Keep watching this space.

In previous years the week before the Exies Bacchus Good Friday run has been a tapering run. But this year it has been decided that the long course will stay with the 10km this week.

Back at the Green Water Tower this week, nice and early to ensure a 5.30pm start
