Race Report

Ninety three Ferals took to the hill on the Queens Birthday long weekend for the annual Kanwhen Cup.

Conditions were brilliant as the fifty short course runners began their dash, and Ben Potroz, starting from the back of the pack finished with the best nett time to win the event.    Obviously the purple dye in his hair has worked a treat as his nearest rivals were more than 2 minutes away after the handicaps were taken into account.

Meanwhile Isabella Murray was also running well to get fastest time and take the prize for the ladies, and the unrewarded line honours went to Tara Searl, Jessica Alpen and Jason Rosenow.

 The long course was a tough one this week with the runners reaching the top of the hill on three separate occasions, and it was the back of the pack runners that took the ultimate prize with Adam Johnson and Tracey Josling being convincing winners.

Sarah Keenan, Fiona Favero and Keith McDonald ran well in getting line honours but no prizes, and a special mention must be made to Stewart Wood who showed great form to finish after a long day, and to Dom Calabria who was back on the long course.

 The Ferals start at the green water tower at 4.30pm sharp every Saturday, with walkers, joggers, runners and Ferals all welcome, and this week sees race one of the Surfer Competition which leads up to the annual City to Surf in Sydney, and the Lakesview Classic locally.
