Race Report

It was perfect running conditions on Scenic Hill for The Feral Joggers meet Saturday, if you like the cold. For Race Two of The Surfer Competition the weather was chilly and the skins were out.

With the diehard Ferals training for Sydney’s City to Surf in August the crowd looked fit and the times were quick, this track is being dubbed ‘The Fast Track’ because of the outstanding performances.

Mirella Granata ran a stella time slashing over a minute off her previous run and scraping to the top of the point score, running a minute quicker seemed to be the theme of the day with Glen Rosato, Teresa Burgess and Simon Croce doing the same.

It is only early days in the competition and it is a tight one at that, Alex Forrest and Glen Rosato raced home to get 2nd and 3rd which puts them high on the point score tally. Glenys Greenaway 2nd in the point score is also one to watch as a technological malfunction interfered with her place.

Paul Muir, Simon Croce, David Merrylees, Rodney Savage, Adam Johnson, Mark Gatto and David Slattery all made up the top 10, therefore, this will make for an interesting competition so beware of the handicapper.

Special mention also goes to Johnson 24.40 in the long course and Andrew Bastianon 15.28 in the short course for running the two quickest times of the day.

In the short course things were a little less hectic; the top three were spaced out with Daisy Croce easing into 1st place almost 40seconds ahead of James Stock well and Andrew Bastianon.  

Adam Johnson and David Slattery are neck and neck in the Wardle Wadle stakes although they better watch out as Janet Mazzarolo isn’t too far behind.
