Race Report

The icy dreary weather kept some runners in doors on Saturday this has made the outcome of Race four exciting for the contenders for the noble Surfer competition title, though numbers were down there were still 90 keen ferals sizing each other up at the starting mat.

Mirella Granata was nowhere to be seen so consistency paid off for Glenys Greenaway as she gracefully sat on the finishing mat and rose to the top of the point score tally.

So for this week the others in top five of the point score were Elio Minato, Glen Rosato, John Johns, Keith McDonald and David Merrylees.

The Top Ten for the long course was a nice mix of new and old there was almost a Keenan Trifecta with Sarah Keenan and John Keenan taking first and second place with Di Keenan running very well but, just a little out of reach.

Third place went to Ron Anson who ran an admirable personal best followed by Peter Stockwell, Paul Clancy, Matthew Ross, Sharon Careri, Rodney Savage, Rita Fascianelli-McIver and number ten went to the fastest runner of the day Vince Restagno 25:04.

Next week long course runners will have to test their fine training and find that extra endurance as the course changes to a grueling 8kms including some extra sizeable inclines.

Now to the short course, line honors went to Randy Herron shortly followed by Andrew Bastianon and Jordan Austin, not too far away was Claire Keenan showing her good jogging genes then Amy Burgess, Justin Austin, Brock Twigg, Aislinn Gesuale, Fletcher Josling, and James Bastianon.

Superb effort once again by Josling who ran the fastest in the short course for the second week in a row.

The handicapper had people unimpressed with their whopping time increases with some ferals feeling the need to up the ante, so maybe this isn’t necessarily a bad thing?

The Wardle Waddle is unchanged with the top three still consisting of David Slattery, Adam Johnson and Janet Mazzarolo, well done for you consistency.
