Race Report

There was a chill in the air last Saturday, but that didn’t stop the Ferals turning up for their regular punt.

The weather proved to be ideal for many who ran their personal bests and for those chasing the top spots of the pointscore.

Congratulations to Nicole Restagno for putting in a superb effort to win the 2010 Surfer Competition, and also on getting the crown of fastest female in the long course 25.58.

Restagno edged ahead of another well performing feral Glenys Greenaway by 20 points.

It was an impressive competition the whole way through for these top two ladies a real close one to watch.

It was a scuffle for first in the long course between Campbell Jeremy and Peter Stinson, with Jeremy triumphing by a split second.

Peter Stinson has proved consistency pays off, running regularly in The Surfer Competition and getting top ten places and it was an awesome run by Elizabeth Heffer who came third and ran a personal best.

Vince Restagno zoomed ahead of the fast pack running the course in 24.30, behind him were Anthony Trefilo 24.47 and Rodney Savage 24.48.

In the short course it was the Sweeney family’s day the brothers have shown they have found their feet up the hill with Ryan Sweeney taking the top spot followed by Justin Menzies and third was Liam Sweeney.

You could hear the thump and the whoosh of the two fastest runners in the short course Ben Potroz ran it with ease in 12.05, Devansh Tiwari kept close to Potroz finishing the race in 12.25.

Fastest female in the short course was Margaret O’Grady speeding around the tracks in 17.10.

On Saturday, the feral joggers will not meet on the hill the Lakesview Classic is running from McCarthy Rd Lake Wyangan – you will find us up the far end. Mass start, 9.8km and 5.3km, entry fee $5 individual or $15 family.
